CATRIONA SCOTT was educated in North Wales and at sixteen was offered a place to read Music at St. Hilda's College, Oxford, where she was an Instrumental Scholar. During her time at Oxford, Catriona studied with Dame Thea King and in 1999 was awarded the Joan Conway Scholarship in Performance Studies by the Faculty of Music. She later studied with Richard Addison whilst Musician in Residence at Tonbridge School. In 2002 Catriona completed her Master's degree at the Royal Northern College of Music with John Bradbury and Chris Swann, supported by the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund, South East Music Schemes and the Arts Council of Wales. She has performed in master-classes with Gervase de Peyer, Andrew Marriner, Lynsey Marsh and Walter Boekyens.

Catriona’s successes including winning first prize in the Howarth Clarinet Competition 2002. Solo performances have included Mozart Sinfonia Concertante K297b with the R.N.C.M. Chamber Orchestra under Douglas Boyd, Weber Clarinet Concerto No.1 with Oxford University Orchestra, Crusell, Clarinet Concerto op.5 with Welwyn Garden City Orchestra, and Finzi Bagatelles with string orchestra; she is also an experienced orchestral performer, including with Christ Church Festival Orchestra and St. Albans Symphony Orchestra. Catriona enjoys performing contemporary music and has worked with David Matthews, Antonín Tucapský and Thomas Hyde. In her recital at the 2001 Deal Festival, she gave the World Première of David Matthews Three Roman Miniatures for solo clarinet, written especially for her.
